● The agreement will directly benefit three key facilities of the company in Santiago, Huechuraba, and Valdivia. ● Specifically, the initiative will prevent the emission of more than 2,000 tons of CO₂ over the contract period, equivalent to planting more than 19,000 trees.
Santiago, June 10, 2026 — With the goal of responding to the need to move toward more sustainable operations, Gtd and Colbún announced the signing of an energy supply agreement that will provide 100% renewable energy to three critical facilities of the technology and telecommunications company. This strategic alliance not only strengthens the operational continuity of the tech firm through a reliable supply, but also consolidates its growth under strict sustainability criteria and supports the country's digital transformation.
In detail, the alliance covers the energy supply for the company's facilities in Huechuraba and Valdivia, as well as the Huérfanos data center in Santiago. Together, this energy supply totals an annual consumption of 2.96 GWh, which will support the growth and ensure the operational continuity of Gtd's critical infrastructure across different regions of the country.
The energy supplied by Colbún is 100% renewable and is backed by IREC certification, in line with the goal of consolidating a long-term relationship aimed at providing energy support to an industry that is key to the country's digital transformation.
"Data centers demand not only energy, but confidence in their supply. This agreement with Gtd shows how at Colbún we combine renewable generation with backup and service to safely support the growth of digital infrastructure in Chile," said José Ignacio Escobar, CEO of Colbún.
Likewise, Gtd's General Manager, Fernando Gana, stated: "This agreement with Colbún reinforces our sustainable growth strategy and allows us to secure a reliable and renewable energy supply for our facilities."
From a climate action perspective, the alliance will generate an immediate positive impact: annually, the supply will prevent the emission of approximately 740 tons of CO₂, equivalent to taking around 197 vehicles off the road or planting more than 7,000 trees. Over the entire term of the agreement, the emissions reduction will reach approximately 2,035 tons of CO₂, equivalent to 543 fewer vehicles on the road or the planting of more than 19,000 trees.
This agreement reaffirms Colbún's commitment to developing reliable and sustainable energy solutions, as well as Gtd's commitment to an increasingly efficient operation aligned with today's environmental challenges.
