In addition, since 2010 Colbún has been measuring and verifying its Carbon Footprint in scopes 1, 2 y 3 and we were the first to participate in international carbon markets. At present, six of our power plants are registered before the United Nations’ Clean Development Mechanism, which have meant an annual reduction of approximately 300,000 tons of CO2 , equivalent to removing from circulation 75,000 cars.

Run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant located at the Aconcagua river basin. It started operations in 2002, being the world’s first power plant to trade carbon credits.
Run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant located at the Aconcagua river basin. It started operations in 2008, and during the same year it was certified to trade carbon credits.
Run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant located in the Laja river basin. It started operations in 2007, and was certified to trade carbon credits a year later.
Run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant located at the Maule river basin. It started operations in 2010, and was certified in 2011.
Run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant located in the Maule river basin. It started operations in 2017 and during the same year it was certified to trade carbon credits.
Photovoltaic farm located in the district of Tiltil. It started operations in 2018, being the first Colbún’s solar farm certified to trade carbon credits.
